Editable text or a faithful page: which Word mode?
Understand what browser-based PDF-to-Word conversion can preserve.
PDF and Word work differently
A PDF places content at fixed positions. Word lays text out as paragraphs. Reconstructing a complex page with tables or columns may require manual editing.
When to use editable text
Use text extraction for simple, selectable text. Pictures, logos, signatures, tables, and the original layout are not preserved. Text in scanned sections can be missing. This is not a fully editable reproduction of your PDF.
When to use page images
Choose page-preserving mode when appearance matters more than editing. Each PDF page becomes an image in Word. Text inside those images is not directly editable.
For scanned documents
Enable English OCR to read every page, including pages with a mixture of selectable and scanned text. OCR replaces direct extraction and may introduce errors; proofread every page, especially names and numbers. It does not restore pictures or layout. Recognition runs on your device and is limited to 20 pages per run.
